  • He began playing football for East London School when he was 11 years old. Dickie Walker, a scout for Tottenham Hotspur, had noticed him. Bill Nicholson, Dave Mackay, and Danny Blanchflower were among the Tottenham youth players he met while playing at Cheshunt.
  • He played as a midfielder for West Ham United. He also began his career at Tottenham Hotspur, where he played for the youth squad until the age of 15, when he went to West Ham United. Similarly, in the 1965–66 season, he made seven appearances for West Ham and scored one goal.
  • On December 3, 1966, in a 3–0 win over West Bromwich Albion, he made his first start of the 1966–67 season and scored his second goal for the club. He began his career as a player-coach with the Seattle Sounders of the North American Soccer League (NASL).
  • He also played for England at the young level when he was 17 years old, and was a member of the team that won the UEFA Youth Tournament in 1964, defeating Spain 4–0 in the final.
  • From 1976 until 1979, Harry worked as a player-assistant manager for the NASL’s Seattle Sounders, where he was coached by Jimmy Gabriel. He appeared in 24 games for the team, which helped them finish second in the Pacific Conference and Western Division.
